Easy Riding Playlist

Happy Fitness Friday Everyone!

One thing that really gets my blood flowing at the gym, is angry music! (See my Bad A** playlist posts for inspiration) If people only knew that the girl with her hair in a braid and the hot pink Nike shirt frolicking around on the treadmills was actually listening to Rob Zombie, I think they’d be a little shocked! But, amongst the machines on the cardio floor of the gym are the stationary bikes. In that area, I really workout to a totally different tune. I prefer easy riding. On the bike I will catch up on my reading or I will listen to a lighter playlist and go with the flow. One that allows my mind to let loose and imagine that I am cycling through a *peaceful meadow*. When you are on the bike cranking out a smooth 20 mile distance, maybe some of the songs on my playlist will help you get there!

Easy on the ears and heavy on the pedals

Stella & Dot Launch

This is the post you all have been waiting for…  It is Trendy Tuesday and I am finally posting images from my first ever Qualified Trunk Show as a Stylist with Stella & Dot! You want arm candy – we’ve got it! You need that statement necklace to wow friends at your holiday party – we’ve got it! You want to have a cocktail and get styled in the latest jewelry and accessories – we’ve got it!

I was so excited to have the theme be “Jewels and Ghouls”! I wanted to make a simple , yet spooky tatement against the jewelry. I bought paper mache skulls and skull masks and sprayed them gold. I layered the skulls in a tall apothacary jar. As for the skull masks, I wired them to a cluster of branches and added twinkle lights. I also utilized gold for the trays that I put some of the bite-sized foods on. I baked mini red velvet cupcakes and iced them with cream cheese frosting. Carefully, I used a skewer to push the frosting out of the way and poked 2 holes to create VAMPIRE BITES!

Here is the first set up of jewelry with little black, sparkly spiders mixed in! Everyone loved the statement necklaces in the vibrant coral and turquoise colors. A big hit was the Alexandria Necklace which has scalloped metal pieces all layerd in it – I sold 2 of those! This table was a hit and my guests had a blast trying the jewelry on!

This was the other table with wonderful earrings and candy! The leopard print scarf and Deco Stackable rings were super popular. Trend Alert – Animal prints and deco-inspired vintage jewelry is very in right now! Mix and Match patterns and you are good to go!

To Jewelry. Period. ❤

In Art, There Aren’t Manners

According to good ‘ol Google, today would mark Rodin’s 172nd Birthday! In honor of one of the greats, I have decided to write today’s “Monday Manners” on the free spirit of the Arts! I went to The ART Institute of Philadelphia and let me tell you what – I have seen things and learned things about art that I never would have dreamt about. From pornography to very interesting interpretations! Below are some examples of why art has no bounds, why it is radical at times, and why it is not always ladylike.

1) Hmm, so you want to put on a show and create a painting all at the same time… Well, kill two birds with one stone and do the following: Paint your naked bodies blue and roll around on a canvas in front of an audience. <<Yves Klein>>

2) I know, you are an extremist and you need to make a statement today…. Go ahead, drop a crucifix into your own pee and take a picture of it! Voila, photography at its finest. <<Andres Serrano>>

3) It’s about 1647 and your goal is to have us speculate divine spirituality and sexuality. You are probably asking yourself, “In one piece of artwork?! Oh my Lord!” Take Bernini’s portrayal of The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa. Do the research, read the verse, look at the sculpture… <<Bernini>>

4) Is it right for a father to eat his child? It most certainly is not right…well… not unless… he is REALLY hungry and this is just a painting we are talking about!!! <<Saturn Devouring His Son by Goya>>

5) Typically, it is not publicly acceptable to appear before others in the nude! However, with art you can paint/draw/sculpt nudes all the live long day and then people can “oogle” at them in museums! Just check out the Rodin Museum for some inspiration 😉 <<Rodin Museum in Philadelphia, Pa>>
